Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup With defending champion Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Houston Astros winning the championship in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their first championship series following the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the American League Championship Series.
Trailing by two runs, Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh, leading the sole Canadian team in the majors to a four games to three triumph in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, who are the defending champions, in the forthcoming championship.
"I'm thrilled for our team, our city, the nation," said Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
The veteran has now hit twenty-three October home runs, making him third on the list trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another person on planet Earth that I want up in that moment besides Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, after leading the early in the series, remain the sole team never to appear in a World Series.
Wilson stated "there's no question that it's going to sting" following his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts this season.
"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we ended up on the losing end of this one," he continued.
Toronto's team won the title on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
