Star Denies Anti-Vax Views After Voicing Controversial Coronavirus Documentary
Liam Neeson has given his vocal talents to a new documentary that casts doubt on the safety of vaccines and lauds one-time cabinet secretary the political figure.
The Documentary's Disputed Basis
Called "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is inspired by a well-known publication co-authored by Judy Mikovits, who gained notoriety during the global outbreak for claims that the virus was linked to a bad strain of the influenza shot.
Her collaborator, Kent Heckenlively, has also written books with controversial media personality Alex Jones. He wrote online praising Neeson's participation in the project.
A Strong Statement
The team of Neeson have released a comment strongly denying claims that he subscribes to anti-immunization beliefs.
"We all acknowledge that misconduct may occur within the drug industry, but that must not be equated to rejection of vaccines," the response reads. "He never has been, and is not, anti-vaccination. His extensive work with Unicef reinforces his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."
The statement continued that the star had no hand in the documentary's narrative and that inquiries about its content should be directed to the producers.
Central Claims In the Documentary
As presented, the voiceover spoken by Neeson features several strong points:
- It suggests that pro-immunization voices have insisted on "complete compliance" to health authorities.
- It declares that "science has become highly influenced by politics."
- Kennedy is featured stating, "The major issue with vaccines is that they just aren't safely tested."
- It further attacks stay-at-home orders, claiming they caused severe distress that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Concerning the immunizations, it mentions a report that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Historical Context and Ongoing Debates
The film further cites a 2004 BBC documentary about AIDS medication trials on children, which was subsequently the subject of a formal apology by the corporation for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, Kennedy instructed the Centers for Disease Control to revise its longstanding position that there is no link between immunizations and autism. This assertion is also referenced in the film, despite a fresh analysis from the WHO reiterating no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Position of Advocacy
Standing in contrast to the documentary's tone, Neeson has formerly expressed strong support for vaccines in his position as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he described vaccines as "an extraordinary human success story," adding that "The conversation about vaccines in recent years has forgotten how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in human history."
The film ends with Neeson's script saying, "This is not the finish of our narrative. This is the beginning of a new chapter."
